Get Informed

Knowledge is Power
Get Informed

The first step toward the fulfillment of our potential as Black men is to get informed. Too often we approach critical decisions at a decided disadvantage, choosing a course of action without the requisite information. Our lack of judgment often leads to bad decisions and ultimately to outcomes that further serve to diminish us individually and as a group. Our failure to acquire relevant information also often blinds us to opportunity and undermines our prospects for success.

SAAM – NY/NJ recognizes this dilemma, and the opportunity to raise the consciousness of our compatriots, and is committed to using the power of the Internet to transfer information and increase knowledge within our community. This section of the website provides background on the 2005 SAAM conference, details legislation that may be relevant and allows you to download research reports and policy briefing papers. We also provide you with some “Best Practices” so you won’t feel pressured to reinvent the wheel. By starting here you are taking an affirmative step toward “knowing” and not leaving your existence to chance.
